We had a lot of fun putting this Internet Resource List together. It is by no means comprehensive, but it includes our favorite places to visit. We've included some sites because they're beautiful or fun to browse, others because they include essential information, and still others because they represent organizations we think you should know about. There is a lot of overlap in the categories below. Even though we've placed several sites in more than one category, we still suggest you browse through the entire list.
We've included sites which represent a wide range of parenting philosophies. Because the Internet is a changing medium, we have no control over the content of these sites, and therefore cannot guarantee their appropriateness from day to day. Nor can we endorse the organizations, products or services listed here. However, we did find something of value in each of the sites we included. We hope you find these links as informative and helpful as we did, both in your parenting and in your exploration of the Web.
You'll also see that we've included a lot of sites for kids. In doing so, we've stepped out of the age range of our book. We're not proponents of having preschoolers visit the Internet or log in a lot of computer time. Most of the kids' sites we've listed here are designed for kids who are in elementary school, if not older. Check them out for yourself before you decide if they're appropriate for your child.
If the resource you're looking for is a website address, you'll be
linked to the nearest topic heading in our master list of websites. Scroll down until you find the particular entry you want. They're listed alphabetically.
We hope you have as much fun visiting these sites as we did. Happy surfing!
Laura and Janis
